Taking dogs on board the ferry
Dogs can travel free on the Shields Ferry.
For reasons of health and safety please ensure your dog is kept under control at all times.
Taking bikes on board the ferry
Bikes can also be carried across the river on the Shields Ferry free of charge.
And if a group of you plan to use the ferry at the same time (eg for a charity bike ride), we can accommodate about 20 bikes on-board
Cycle lockers
There are cycle lockers at South Shields ferry landing - the keys are available from South Shields TravelShop. You can use them free of charge (£30.00 deposit required but this is refundable when you return your locker key).
