St Wilfred’s and Bede Primary School are working with Metro and Gateshead Connexions to adopt Gateshead Stadium station. The theme will be sport and the Olympic Games 2012, as well as promoting the connection between Gateshead Stadium and the station.
This includes:
- Maintaining the grassed area outside the station
- Brightening up platform areas with pupils artwork
- Encourage children to create a sense of ownership and pride within the neighbourhood
As well as improving the station for the local community, Gateshead Connexions hopes that the project will help to influence younger people to develop their skills and talents a well as how they can make a positive contribution in their lives and others.
The pupils will be rewarded with school visits and tours of the Metro Depot.
