No Metro disruptions

3 January 2016 - Central Station 8pm station closures Sunday - Thursday

Central Station will close each evening at 8pm Sunday to Thursday (reopening the following morning as normal) until later this year. During the closure trains will not stop at Central Station. Customers who would normally travel from or to Central Station after 8pm Sunday to Thursday are advised to use Monument station. If you're unable to get to or from Monument station please speak to a member of staff. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

20 June 2016 - Central Station escalator replacement

A new escalator will be installed at Central Station leading between the concourse and the main Rail station.  Work will begin on 20 June and take around ten weeks to complete.  During the work please use the station lift or stairs. We're sorry for any inconvenience

23 July 2016 - Major Line Closure Benton - Monkseaton

No trains will run in either direction between Benton and Monkseaton from Saturday 23 July - 6 August 2016.  This is to allow for track replacement work.  During the closure a frequent replacement bus service the number 900 will run between Four Lane Ends and Monkseaton.  Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus and the driver will sell tickets.  Your journey will take longer so please allow extra travel time.  Some trains will not run to usual timetable, for help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 or use the journey planner nexus.org.uk/journeyplanner or view the train times below.  Metro services will run as usual on Sunday 7 August.

During the Major Line Closure 23 July - 6 August between Benton and Monkseaton, trains will run between Benton - South Shields and St James - Monkseaton but will not be to usual timetable.  Trains will also operate between Airport - South Hylton, running to usual timetable with the following minor changes.  For specific train times, check the online journey planner nexus.org.uk/journeyplanner or call 0191 20 20 747.
