Network Travel tickets – the only ticket to provide unlimited travel on all public transport in Tyne and Wear – will have a new look, a new name and be even easier to use when changes to the tickets come into effect from April 11.
The fresh new look for the tickets will include the new name of Network One and the number of travel zones used to calculate the cost of travel will be reduced from 32 to just five, making it much simpler for passengers to select the travel they need.
Ticket prices are being reviewed to fit in with the new travel zones and reflect inflation, but will still provide big savings compared to the cost of individual journeys.
John Conroy, Chairman of NTL which runs the ticket scheme, said, “The new name and brighter look for the tickets really raise their profile and build on their strength of being the only ticket passengers can use across all forms of public transport in Tyne and Wear.”
Following the introduction of the new ticket design, most passengers will be able to continue to use their existing Network Travel tickets until the expiry date, although annual ticket holders will be advised soon about swapping to the new-look ticket before expiry.
A high profile campaign will introduce the changes to new and existing customers from April 11.
