NEXUS TO HOST PUBLIC DROP-IN SESSION ABOUT MODERNISATION WORKS AT HOWDON IN NORTH TYNESIDE

Nexus, which owns, manages and is modernising Metro, is holding a drop-in session for residents of Howdon to find out more about plans to modernise Howdon Metro station and works taking place there during the forthcoming major line closure.

The drop in session is taking place on Wednesday March 9 at the Sure Start Children's centre on Howdon Lane in North Tyneside, 2pm-7pm.

People will have the chance to speak to Nexus staff on a one-to-one basis about the proposed redevelopment of Howdon Metro station as part of the £385m Metro: all change programme, which will see the network modernised over the next 11 years.

Nexus staff will also be able to answer questions about the forthcoming 23-day major line closure between Byker and Tynemouth, from 12 March to 3 April.

This will mean a works compound being located behind platform two at Howdon Metro station for the duration of the line closure.

Director of Rail and Infrastructure for Nexus, Ken Mackay, said: “This is a chance for residents to find out more about our plans for Howdon Metro station. It will also give people the chance to talk with our staff on a one to one basis about the 23-day line closure between March 12 and April 3.

“One of our work sites for the line closure is going to be situated near Howdon station. The drop-in session will give people the chance to find out what will be taking place there once the work gets underway.”
