There are several ways in which commuters can save money on public transport.
Metro
The MetroSaver can be bought online and lasts either 1 week, 4 weeks or 52 weeks. It entitles people to travel across all three Metro zones and the Newcastle Sunderland Rail line. Prices depend on the number of zones passengers want to travel through.
Also available is the Corporate MetroSaver. Just like the MetroSaver, this entitles the traveller to unlimited 3 zone travel on the commute from work. A corporate solution, a minimum purchase of ten Corporate MetroSaver tickets is required. The more tickets bought, the greater the discount.
Bus
As well as being able to buy return tickets, all of the major bus operators within the Tyne & Wear region offer season tickets.
Arriva offer the QuickSaver ticket, which can be purchased weekly and entitles the customer to unlimited travel between two stops.
Go North East offer the Buzzfare, which allows unlimited travel on any Go North East Bus within the region. 1 day, 7 day, 28 day and annual passes are available, and details can be found at Go North East's website.
Stagecoach offer a weekly, monthly and annual Megarider ticket in three of the region’s towns and cities; Newcastle, South Shields and Sunderland.
If you are considering buying a season ticket or pass for a particular operator, please check that all journeys are provided by the same operator.
Ferry
A 7 Day Pass is available to buy directly from the crew onboard The Shields Ferry. A book of 10 single discounted tickets can also be bought and can be used any time, on any day.
