A Shields Ferry - either the Spirit of the Tyne or the Pride of the Tyne - operates across the River Tyne between North and South Shields ferry landings every 30 minutes in each direction. The crossing takes about seven minutes. If you live in South Tyneside, but study in North Tyneside, or vice versa, the Shields Ferry is by far the quickest way to travel.
