Arriva North East Student Tickets


ON SALE FROM MONDAY 25 AUGUST 2008

Students studying full time at universities, colleges or sixth form schools in the North East can now buy travel tickets lasting a whole term or a whole year online.

The new Arriva Student Ticket allows students studying in the region the opportunity to travel anywhere in the region for a one-off payment. To be eligible for a Student Ticket you must be 16 or over on the 1 September 2008 and be studying a full time course at university, college or sixth form at school.

The Academic Year Ticket costs £499 and is valid from 1st September 2008 until 24th July 2009. That works out at less than £11 per week!

Term tickets are also available and cost £189 per term.  Autumn, Spring and Summer terms are available.

1. Who can buy a Student Ticket?
The Student Ticket is available to all full time students who are studying at either a college, sixth form school or a university in the North East of England.

2. Which area is the ticket valid for?

The Student Ticket can be used anywhere on Arriva buses in the North East region - from Berwick down to Scarborough. The ticket can only be used on Arriva services.

3. When can I use my Student Ticket?

It can be used anytime, any day until the last bus.  So you can travel to and from uni and then go out on the night.  You can even use you ticket for weekend travel.

4. Where can I buy a Student Ticket?

They are available from the arriva website www.arrivabus.co.uk/students then select North East from the menu.  Click on the purchase tickets button to buy your ticket. You can also buy a Student Ticket from any Arriva Travelshop.

5.What happens if I lose my Student Ticket?

Losing your ticket is like losing money and we cannot guarantee to replace it unless we are satisfied that the ticket cannot be used for travel by any other person.  We may at our discretion replace lost or stolen tickets providing that the occurance has been reported to the police.  A charge (£25) will always be made for the replacement of a lost or stolen ticket.  We will prosecute anyone attempting to travel on Arriva services with fraudulent or stolen tickets.

6.What are the start and expiry dates of the tickets?

The tickets cover all days between these dates:

Academic Year Ticket     1 September 2008 > 24 July 2009
Autumn Term Ticket       1 September 2008 > 19 December 2008
Spring Term Ticket         5 January 2009 > 3 April 2009
Summer Term Ticket      20 April 2009 > 24 July 2009
