Map Music’ was a CD of sounds recorded on trains, in stations and the surrounding area of the Metro.
These found sounds were structured into a montage which coincided with a train route along the ‘loop’ element of the network. The loop starts from Monument Metro station and travels out to Whitley Bay via Longbenton and Four Lane Ends then returns via Tynemouth and Byker. ‘Map Music’ was created for passengers to listen to using a CD walkman whilst travelling this route and was also nationally broadcast on Radio Three.
