In the centre of the ticketing concourse a video was shown depicting the head and shoulders of the artist, recorded whilst he hung upside down but shown the right way up.
As passengers descended the escalator they saw a second screen, this time showing the artist’s head and shoulders filmed the right way up but inverted on the screen to show him upside down. As thousands of daily travellers passed Monument each day the steady moving gaze of its videos provided a visually compelling comment on the culture of surveillance.
