TaxiLink

Taxi Link What is TaxiLink?

This is a door-to-door service using accessible taxis. It costs just £1.00 a trip.

Who is TaxiLink for?

Most buses in Tyne and Wear have low floors, making them easier to use for people with mobility difficulties. TaxiLink is designed for people who still need a specialist service as they cannot use low floor buses or Metro. 

Do I need to apply to use TaxiLink?

Yes. You will need to apply for a TaxiLink registration card. You will need to show your card to the taxi driver to be entitled to your £1.00 fare.

How do I register for the TaxiLink scheme?

Contact us on 0191 20 20 632 or email taxilink@nexus.org.uk to request an application form.

Will I qualify?

You will automatically qualify for the scheme if you are in receipt of any of the following:

•  High Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
•  Attendance Allowance
•  Are registered as severely visually impaired or blind

What if I don't automatically qualify?

If you don't qualify for any of the above but think you are mobility impaired we will assess your application on an individual basis. The application form explains this more fully. 
 
What happens next?

If you qualify we will send you a registration card and details of how to use the TaxiLink service.

How do I book a journey?
 
Call 0191 20 20 777  between 9am and 3pm . 
 
Customers can book one return trip per call, 24hours in advance.

What happens if I can't join the scheme?

Don't worry. Our new network of LinkUp buses are open to all and can be booked as little as 2 hours before you need to travel. These services are operated by accessible minibuses for journeys that you cannot make by conventional bus or Metro services.
