16 - 18

This section aims to tell you how to get to wherever you need to go if you're aged 16 -18 and in further education. It'll also help you choose the best ticket to buy - so saving you time and money.
But you can use this section for much more than just getting to sixth form and college - it'll be useful for when you're meeting your mates, or travelling to your part-time job.

Why use public transport?

  • It's better for the environment

  • Everyone's talking about the environment these days. Between global warming and carbon footprints we're constantly being told to do something to help the environment.

One way of making a difference is to ditch the car and use public transport instead. It gets the cars off the roads, eases congestion and reduces those CO2 emissions.

  • It's better for you
  • Walking to and from Metro stations and bus stops is a good boost for your health. Public transport users walk 20 minutes per day on average - just shy of the 30 minutes recommended by the Chief Medical Officer.

  • It (can be) better for your bank balance

Depending on how far your journey is, public transport is often cheaper than driving. With no parking charges and petrol tanks to fill, the price you pay for your ticket(s) is the final price you pay!
