Pre-paid travel is top of the class

Story added: Tuesday 31 August 2004

Public transport operator Nexus is urging parents to act now to beat the rush of applying for a School Pass for the forthcoming academic year.

Getting the kids ready for school in the morning can be quite a job. Uniforms, exercise books, sports kit - there’s a million and one things to organise before you can see them out of the door and on their way.

But help is at hand with one aspect of the school trip - getting there by public transport without the need to sort out change for Metro, ferry or bus fares.

The answer is a School Pass, which can be bought in advance, in plenty of time for the new school year.

Priced at just £115 for the whole 2004/05 academic year, the School Pass is the smartest way for students to pre-pay for their travel to school.

A first term version of the pass - valid until December 24 - is only £40.

Buying the pass in advance from Nexus means there will be no need for youngsters to find change for fares to school every day.

Applying for a School Pass - either for just the winter term or the whole academic year - is easy.

Simply pick up an application form from any Nexus Travelshop.

A dedicated phone line - 0191 203 3211 - provides all the information.
