Mike Parker, Director General of Nexus, today (Tuesday 16 November 2004) expressed his sympathy for the family of the man who died of his injuries after falling from a Metro train on Saturday night. The incident happened as a train left North Shields late on Saturday. The man was standing outside the train cars on the coupling which joins them when the accident occurred. Mr Parker, said:" It is with considerable sadness that I learned of the death late last night and I would like to express my sympathy for his family. "This incident emphasises the need for people to act responsibly on Metro and observe the strict Health and Safety guidelines we have in place to protect our passengers and our staff."
