Mike Parker, Director General of Nexus, today (Tuesday 16 November 2004) expressed his sympathy for the family of the man who died of his injuries after falling from a Metro train on Saturday night.

The incident happened as a train left North Shields late on Saturday. The man was standing outside the train cars on the coupling which joins them when the accident occurred.

Mr Parker, said:" It is with considerable sadness that I learned of the death late last night and I would like to express my sympathy for his family.
