Detailes of Revision to bus services from Nexus

Story added: Wednesday 26 January 2005

A number of sets of bus service changes take effect in Gateshead this coming weekend which involve secured services provided by Nexus.

Western Gateshead:
Nexus currently funds the hourly daytime extension of bus service 10 beyond Rockwood Hill to High Spen and Blackhall Mill. From 29 January this will additionally serve Woodside and Hookergate to improve access for people living in these areas.

There are some changes to the Nexus funded local minibus services in the Ryton and High Spen areas from 31 January.

A new service is R6/R7 which will run hourly Monday to Saturday daytime between the centre of Ryton and Winlaton Bus Station via Stargate and Blaydon Burn. From Winlaton it will run every two hours in a circle via either Barlow, High Spen, Rowlands Gill and Lockhaugh or in the reverse direction.

Operated for Nexus by Go Gateshead, through fares are available at Winlaton with Go North East services to Blaydon, Gateshead and Newcastle.
As a result service R3 will no longer operate during the daytime, concentrating instead on the UCall operation in the Ryton area. However service R3 will continue unchanged evenings and Sunday providing an hourly link between Ryton and High Spen with connections and through fares at High Spen with Go North East service 47 to and from Chopwell and Blackhall Mill, and a UCall service in Ryton and the High Spen, Barlow and Winlaton Mill area.

Gateshead - Saltmeadows and Team Valley:
Nexus funded service 55 between Gateshead and Heworth Interchanges through Saltmeadows will no longer operate during the daytime from 31 January, and will operate every 30 minutes at Monday to Friday peak periods via Albany Road instead of Hawks Road.

Daytime service X93 between Gateshead Interchange and Team Valley will also no longer operate. In both cases alternative service is provided on the Go North East circular service 93/94 on which the daytime frequency is being doubled with funding from the Government's Kickstart scheme.

SAGE Gateshead:
Gateshead Council funded shuttle service 60 between Gateshead Interchange and the Baltic and Sage Gateshead is revised after 2100 from 30 January. It will now operate every 20 instead of 15 minutes from Gateshead Interchange, but every 10 minutes from the Sage Gateshead back to the Interchange.
