A NEXUS TV ad took centre stage at the recent Royal Television Society North East awards. Nexus Off-peak Returns was one of only three ads featured on the night at the awards ceremony at Gateshead's Lancastrian Suite. And the vote of confidence was confirmation that Nexus is delivering its message about cheap travel to the North East public. One of two 30-second commercials commissioned by Newcastle advertising agency Different Ltd, the judging panel warmed to the depiction of North East landmarks with price tags attached. The idea was show the value-for-money which the Metro system offers for days out across the region. And in a section where, according to the panel, the main judging criteria is how well the intended message comes across, the Nexus promotion certainly hit home. Judges described the commercial as “a strong idea, simple but with impact, and well shot”. Nexus Off-Peak Returns lost out on top spot only to the “Fear” TV commercial, from Gateshead satellite service The Horror Channel. But judges unanimously agreed that our commercial had reached the final three in a year when competition had never been fiercer. They said: “The overall production quality was higher than in recent years, and there were three entries which stood out.”
