Nexus is to supply information it holds on concessionary passholders to the Government’s Audit Commission as part of a national data matching project. This is to allow the Audit Commission to compare computer records held by public bodies to assist in the detection of fraud. Records are transferred between organisations via a secure mechanism. Nexus is required by law to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds, in order to prevent and detect fraud. The Audit Commission appoints the auditor to audit the accounts of Nexus. It is also responsible for carrying out data matching exercises and has asked Nexus to supply the data. Further information can be found at here.
