 We work in partnership with local train operator Northern Rail to provide rail services in Tyne and Wear.
The service between Sunderland and Newcastle is paid for by us and most of these services continue to Hexham and Middlesbrough. We also work with partner organisations to improve services and facilities on longer distance routes such as the Tyne Valley line. These are important links between town and country, helping to reduce city centre traffic congestion
