Travel on Metro and Newcastle-Sunderland train services for just £12 a year with a Metro Gold Card! If you live in Tyne and Wear and have a Concessionary Travel Pass, you can travel for free on Metro from 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on public holidays if you buy a Metro Gold Card. If you do not have a Metro Gold Card, or you are travelling before 9.30am Monday to Friday, you must pay the full adult fare. Metro Gold Card is also valid on Northern Rail services between Newcastle and Sunderland from 9.30am Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public holidays. If you need to travel before 9.30am in order to get to a hospital appointment, just show your hospital appointment card or letter with your CT Pass and Metro Gold Card when requested, to travel free of charge. If you have an All Day CT pass, because you are disabled and attend work or college for at least 15 hours a week, your Metro Gold Card will also be valid All Day.
