The Shields Ferry child fare is 50p on evenings and weekends. If you do not have an Under 16 Card, or you’re travelling after 7.00pm on weekdays, or any time at weekends, you will pay the commercial ferry child fare, which is 50p. If you are, or look like you are, 14 or over, you will be charged the adult fare. So if you live in Tyne and Wear and are under 16, apply for an Under 16 Card now to be entitled to concessionary child fares. From 1 September 08 The fare for a single journey on the Shields Ferry is 50p at any time (including evenings), on any day (including weekends and public holidays) if you have an Under 16 Card. Or travel all day on all public transport for just £1, with an U16 Child All-day Ticket (U16 CAT). You'll need to show your Under 16 Card to buy a U16 CAT - if you haven't got one yet, download your application form from the link below.
