Easter is fast approaching and Newcastle has plenty of chocolate shops offering a range of chocolates, from Easter bunnies to a classic Easter egg. All the chocolate shops are accessible via Metro.
Gareth James Chocolatier
Established in Tynemouth in 2010, Gareth James is an independent artisan chocolatier. All their products are made onsite in their upstairs studio. Gareth and his team believe in capturing the true characteristics of ingredients and match each flavour profile to its perfect chocolate. Not only do they have lots of different confections they have the finest teas and coffees available in their café.

The Chocolate Smiths
In 2014, the very first Bizzare chocolate bars were sold, handmade in Steffi's ( the owner of The Chocolate Smiths) kitchen. Originally featured at Tynemouth market now the business has a factory unit in North Shields. The chocolatiers have appeared on the BBC and been featured by Joe Wickes!
The Chocolate Smiths have a range of Easter eggs, a favourite is the Halfy Half dessert Egg - Crème Brulée and Cinnamon Swirl.

The Canny Chocolate Company have some of our favourite Easter themed chocolates. Whether it's the Valrhona Milk Chocolate Signature Salted Butter Caramel Pretzel Crunch Egg or their Easter Milk Chocolate Lollipops there is a range of unique choices.

4. Studio28 Patisserie
Studio28 Patisserie is the beginning of a journey which has been 10 years in the making. Naomi Longfield studied patisserie at Gateshead College and in later years she did a chocolate sculpture course in Cocoa Black, this is where she fell in love with all things pastry and chocolate. Eventually Naomi, opened her new shop.
For 2025, there is a new range of large filled shell Easter eggs. Each egg has a thick filling layer in between 2, an inside and outside chocolate shell, sprinkled with delicious toppings.

Hotel Chocolat is a well-known chocolate shop chain. Each year they create iconic Easter eggs. This year the eggs are labelled extra- thick and have a range of flavours such as exuberantly fruity and exquisitely nutty.
