22 May 2017 - 29 May 2017: Routes Q1, Q2, Q3 – Grey Street, Newcastle
Grey Street in Newcastle city centre will be closed from 7am to 5pm daily from Monday, 22 May, for up to one week for renewal of paving outside the Theatre Royal. Go North East routes Q1, Q2 and Q3 will be affected as follows:
Heading away from the quaysides Q1 from Dean Street will divert direct to Central Station, missing Grey Street, Market Street and Grainger Street; Q3 from Dean Street will divert via Pilgrim Street to Market Street East calling at the first stop (NC48 - outside Lola Jean’s) and then normal route. Heading towards the quaysides routes Q1 and Q2 will miss stops on Grey Street, please use Market Street West instead.
28 May 2017 - 04 June 2017: Routes 1 and 32A – Armstrong Road, Newcastle
Armstrong Road will be closed at its junction with Atkinson Road between approximately 8am and 6pm on Sundays 28 May and 4 June. The closure is for works in relation to the cable laying scheme which has been taking place over recent months.
Stagecoach service 1 will divert away from the closure via St Johns Road, Adelaide Terrace and Atkinson Road before re-joining the normal route on Armstrong Road (just before the Atkinson Road Nursery School). The service will use the same diversion route in reverse to travel towards Newcastle. All stops on the diversionary route will be observed on request.
Secured 32A services operated on behalf of Nexus by Go North East will divert between Elswick Road/St John’s Road and St John’s Road/Buddle Road junction direct via St John’s Road in both directions (omitting Armstrong Road/Atkinson Road/Buddle Road).
30 May 2017 - Thursday 1 June 2017: Routes 22, 306, 308 - A19/A1058 Coast Road Junction Improvement Scheme
The eastbound slip roads from the Coast Road at Silverlink are closed from 8pm to 6am each evening from Tuesday, 30 May, to Thursday, 1 June. Stagecoach route 22 will divert away from the Silverlink Roundabout and travel up Churchill Street via the Jolly Bowman, along Middle Engine Lane and into the north side of Silverlink. All buses will turn at Osprey Drive roundabout and call at the stops outside the Volkswagen and Citroen dealerships before returning to the normal route. Passengers for Arriva routes 306 and 308 who normally use the Silverlink stop at McDonalds will need to use the next or previous stop (Coast Road/Norham Road or Willington Square).
30 May 2017 - 31 May 2017: Route 8 – Woodville Crescent, High Barnes
Woodville Crescent, High Barnes, will be closed between Westfield Grove and Ettrick Grove from 8am to 6pm on Tuesday 30 May and Wednesday 31 May to allow resurfacing works to be carried out.
Stagecoach service 8 will divert away from the area as follows:
Buses towards South Hylton will run along Chester Road as normal but instead of travelling via Ormonde Street and Cleveland Road, services will continue straight up Chester Road, returning to the normal route at the Wavendon Pub.
Buses running towards Sunderland City centre will run as normal along Holborn Road and Chester Road as far as the Wavendon, but will then continue down Chester Road towards the City Centre re-joining the normal route at the Sunderland Royal Hospital.
1 June 2017 - Friday 2 June 2017: Route 8 – Greenbank Drive, South Hylton
Greenbank Drive, South Hylton, will be closed for resurfacing between 8am and 6pm on Thursday and Friday, 1-2 June. Route 8 into South Hylton will run as normal via Hylton Bank, Railway Terrace and Claxheugh Road. Route 8 leaving South Hylton will run via Claxheugh Road and Railway Terrace then divert via Hylton Bank (missing Greenbank Drive, Rosemount and South View) before returning to normal route on Hylton Road.
1 June 2017 - 7 June 2017: Routes 6, 32/32A – Shield Street, Newcastle
Shield Street, Newcastle, will be closed for resurfacing works between 7am and 5pm for four working days commencing Thursday 1 June.
Arriva service 6 and Stagecoach services 32/32A will be operating as follows:
Arriva Service 6 (operated on behalf of Nexus) towards Jesmond Vale - normal route to Simpson Terrace then via Copland Terrace, Shieldfield Lane, Stoddart Street & Portland Road (from where normal route will be resumed). Towards Newcastle City Centre - normal route to Portland Road then via Portland Road, Stoddart Street, Shieldfield Lane, Clarence Street and New Bridge Street (from where normal route will be resumed).
Stagecoach Services 32/32A towards the City Centre will run along Warwick Street as normal before diverting via Stoddart Street, Shieldfield Lane and Clarence Street before re-joining the normal westbound route on New Bridge Street. Services towards Walker will run along New Bridge Street as normal before diverting via Falconer Street, Simpson Terrace, Copeland Terrace, Shieldfield Lane and Stoddart Street before re-joining the normal eastbound route on Warwick Street.
As a consequence, buses WILL NOT use the stops on Shield Street in either direction and passengers are advised to use the stops at Warwick Street (Star and Shadows Cinema), New Bridge Street (Manors) or Simpson Terrace (Manors).
4 June 2017 - Route 12 – Ferry Street, South Shields
Due to carriageway repair works, Ferry Street, South Shields, will be closed just north of Church Street from 7am to 1pm on Sunday 4 June.
During the road closure periods, there will be insufficient time for Stagecoach service 12 to operate a diversionary route to and from Mile End Road and as a result these buses will have no option but to terminate at South Shields Market.
5 June 2017 - Routes 306, 308, 310, 392 and W3 – Norham Road Bridge diversions, North Shields
Norham Road bridge will be closed to all traffic for several months from week commencing 5 June.
During the road closure, Go North East service 310 will operate to a revised route/timetable. Journeys towards North Shields will operate non-stop between Formica and Dunelm via Billy Mill. Journeys towards Newcastle will operate non-stop between Dunelm and Formica via Silverlink. The revised timetable for service 310 is available by clicking on the link below.
Central Taxis of Gateshead service W3 will operate to a revised route/timetable (with effect from Wednesday 07 June 2017). For further information please click on the link below.
Arriva services 306/308 and Go North East service 392 will each continue to operate their existing route/timetable but may be subject to some short term diversions during off-peak hours for short periods of time. Further details will be provided here in advance when this is necessary.
15 July 2017 - 16 July 2017: Routes 10, 39, 40, 82, X82 and 685 - A69 West Road/Lemington Road Ends, Newcastle
Due to inspection and maintenance works, A69 West Road will be closed between Lemington Road Ends and A1 roundabout from 7pm on Saturday 15 July to 7am on Sunday 16 July.
Stagecoach services 10, 39, 40, 82, X82 and Arriva service 685 will divert as follows:
Stagecoach services 10, 39, 40, 82 and X82 (westbound and eastbound) will not serve any of the stops on West Road in either direction (Ramparts, Avalon Drive, Lemington Road Ends East and West, The Burnside or South View).
Services travelling West will instead run via the A1 (northbound), Stamfordham Road Interchange, West Denton Way and Hillhead Road before re-joining the normal routes at Hillhead Parkway (service 40), A69 Westbound (services 82 and X82) or Union Hall Road (services 10 and 39).
Services travelling East will run via the same diversion in reverse. Diverted buses will run non-stop along Stamfordham Road and West Denton Way. However, the diverted bus services will temporarily observe the bus stops on Hillhead Road, to maintain links to this area.
Arriva service 685 will divert from Denton Burn roundabout via A1, West Denton Way and Hillhead Road to Lemington Road Ends.
