- (approx) October 2021: Routes 79A & TB20 – Avenue Vivian/Lambton Lane/Rose Avenue, Fence Houses

Avenue Vivian at Fence Houses will be closed between Lambton Lane and Rose Avenue from Wednesday 13 May 2020 for approximately 18 months.  The long-term closure is to allow construction and drainage works.
Nexus Services 79A (Go North East) and TB20 (Station Taxis) will divert from Station Avenue via Rose Avenue to Avenue Vivian, omitting Station Avenue North (28047) and Lambton Lane 28952.
Passengers should use Avenue Vivian or Station Avenue at Durham Street/St John’s Church.



 


 

- (approx) March 2022: Routes 50 – Downhill Lane, West Boldon

Downhill Lane, West Boldon will be closed from Monday 14 September due to long-term works at A19/Downhill junction.  The works may take longer than 18 months to complete. 
During the closure, Go North Service 50 will divert via A19 and A184 in both directions omitting Downhill Lane.  Passengers should use stops on Addison Road. 



 


 

- September 2022: Durham Bus Station Closure - Temporary Bus Stops

From Monday 15 February 2021, Durham Bus Station will be closed to allow demolition and redevelopment work to begin.
Whilst the bus station is closed, a range of new bus stops will be introduced on North Road and at Millburngate.

- (approx) Sunday, 22 August 2021: Routes 8, 18/18A, 99, 135 & 136 – (Southbound) Queen Alexandra Bridge, Sunderland (UPDATED: 28 June 2021)

Sunderland City Council are to carry out essential bridge inspection and maintenance works on the Queen Alexandra Bridge from Monday 07 June 2021 to approx Sunday 22 August 2021. During this period all Southbound traffic will be diverted, Go North East (GNE) service 8, Stagecoach services 18/18A and Nexus secured services 99/135/136 (operated by Go North East (GNE)) will divert as follows:

(GNE) Service 8 – Towards Sunderland PLI, divert after Alexandra Avenue along Camden Street Gyratory, A1290 Wessington Way, A1231 Northern Spire Bridge, Paul Watson Way, European Way, re-joining normal route at New Pallion Road.
Stop 24185 on Camden Street Gyratory will be unobserved, passengers advised to board at 24186.

Stagecoach services 18/18A – Towards Pallion and Gilley Law/Grangetown, divert after Southwick Green (Sunderland Road) along Church Bank, Northern Way, Camden Street Gyratory, A1290 Wessington Way, A1231 Northern Spire, Paul Watson Way, European Way, re-joining normal route at Pallion Subway.
Stop 24185 on Camden Street Gyratory will be unobserved, passengers advised to board at 24186. Stops 24363, 24364 on Pallion New Road will be unobserved. 

(GNE) service 99 – Towards Sunderland Royal Hospital and Plains Farm, divert after Alexandra Avenue along Camden Street Gyratory, A1290 Wessington Way, A1231 Northern Spire Bridge, Paul Watson Way, European Way, re-joining normal route at Pallion Subway.
Stop 24185 on Camden Street Gyratory will be unobserved, passengers advised to board at 24186. Stops 24363, 24364 on Pallion New Road will be unobserved.

(GNE) service 136 – Towards Deptford and Sunderland PLI, divert after Southwick Sunderland Road along Stoney Lane, Mount Pleasant, Lilburn Place, A1290 Queens Road, A1290 Kier Hardy Way, A1290 Southwick Road, A1018 North Bridge Street, A1018 Wearmouth Bridge, West Weir Street, re-joining normal route at Bedford Street.
Due to the extent of the diversion stops 24185 on Camden Street Gyratory and 24396, 24397, 24398, 24399 on Pallion New Road will be unobserved.



 


 

- (approx) Sunday, 15 August 2021: Route 49C – Derwentwater Road/Johnson Street/Yetholm Road, Gateshead

Johnson Street, Gateshead will be closed from Monday 7 June 2021 for approximately 10 weeks for Northumbrian Water works.
During the closure Go North East service 49C will omit Derwentwater Road/Johnson Street/Yetholm Road and instead divert via Clockmill Road & Team Street.



 


 

- Friday, 05 August 2021: Routes 135/136 – Brunswick Road/Hylton Lane/Blackwood Road, Town End Farm

Brunswick Road between Hylton Lane and Blackwood Road in Town End Farm will be closed from Monday 19 July 2021 to Friday 06 August 2021 due to resurfacing works. Nexus secured services 135/136 (operated by Go North East) will divert as follows:
Service 135: divert after Kingsway Road along Hylton Lane, Washington Road, Blackwood Road, Bexhill Road, Baxter Road, Blackwood Road, Washington Road, re-joining normal route at Canterbury Road. 
Service 136: divert after Canterbury Road along Washington Road, Blackwood Road,  Baxter Road, Bexhill Road, Blackwood Road, Washington Road, Hylton Lane, re-joining normal route at Kingsway Road.
Due to the extent of the closure the services will be unable to serve the stops on Brunswick Road.
Passengers are advised to catch the bus from the stops on either Hylton Lane or Blackwood Road.



 


 

- Sunday, 08 August 2021: Route 22 – Fossway, Walkergate, Newcastle

Between Wednesday 28 July 2021 and Sunday 8 August 2021, due to resurfacing works being carried out, all trips on Stagecoach service 22 will divert to operate via the continuation of Shields Road (via Newcastle Climbing Centre and CTD), and across the small Millers Road roundabout, following the same route of Service 32/32A.
Whilst Service 22 buses will not observe their normal stops on Fossway (near Tunstall Avenue), they will observe all bus stops along the line of the Shields Road diversionary route, in the process using the bus stops at the northern end of the Byker Retail Park site, on Shields Road itself.



 


 

- Friday, 06 August 2021: Routes 23 & 558 – Dovedale Road, Dene Estate.

Dovedale Road between Dene Lane and Alston Crescent will be closed on Monday 02 August until Friday 06 August 2021, this is due to resurfacing works and to enable the construction of a raised crossing feature. Stagecoach service 23 and Nexus secured service 558 (operated by Gateshead Central Taxis) will divert as follows:
Service 23 will divert from Blue Bell via Station Road, then run non-stop via Newcastle Road, Shields Road, and the west side of Dovedale Road, resuming normal route and stops on Alston Crescent.
Service 558 - Towards Dene Estate divert after Dykelands Road along Dene Lane (South), Sea Road, Station Road, Charlton Road, A1018 Newcastle Road, A1018 Shields Road to Dovedale Road (West Side).
Service 558 - Towards Heworth divert after Dovedale Road (West Side) along Alston Crescent, resuming normal route at Station Road (Seaburn Metro).
Due to the extent of the closure the services will be unable to serve stops on Dovedale Road (stop no 17207, 17209) but should additionally serve the stops on Station Road (stop no 24117, 24118).
Customers are advised to catch the bus from the stops on Station Road or Alston Crescent. 



 


 

- Friday, 27 August 2021: Routes 20, 39 & 39A – Parkhurst Road, Pennywell, Sunderland

From Tuesday 3 August 2021 until Friday 27 August 2021, Parkhurst Road will be closed due to resurfacing works. Stagecoach service 20 and Go North East services 39/39A will operate as follows:
Stagecoach service 20 will divert from Portsmouth Road and operate via Pennywell Road, Chester Road and Prestbury Road. 
Go North East services 39/39A will follow the same diversion as above, resuming its normal route on Portsmouth Road. 
Buses will observe all stops on the line of the diversionary route.



 


 

- Friday, 13 August 2021: Routes 9, 27, H1 & H2 – Monkton Lane/Finchale Road, Hebburn

From Wednesday 4 August 2021 until Friday 13 August 2021, Monkton Lane and Finchale Road will be closed for highway works.  Closure is Monkton Lane between the junctions of Mill Lane and Finchale Road.  Diversion information for Go North East (GNE) services 9, 27, H1 and H2 will operate as below:
Service 27 between Hebburn Fire Station and Hebburn shops direct via Victoria Road West serving all stops
Service 9 & Service H1 between Hebburn Shops and Lukes Lane via Victoria Road East and Campbell Park Road
Service H2 Hebburn Shops - Victoria Road West - Burn Heads - Crawley Avenue - Mill Lane - Victoria Road West
A taxi bus operated by Station Taxis will be organised for the closure between 8am to 4pm each day, this will operate Clockwise via Victoria Road West, Victoria Road East, Campbell Park Road, Finchale Road, turn at junction of College Road, Finchale Road, Campell Park Road, Monkton Lane, Wood Terrace, York Avenue, Roman Road, Mill Lane to Victoria Road West. Three-way traffic lights will be in operation daily overnight allowing services to resume normal routes.



 


 

- Friday, 06 August: Route 558 – Dovedale Road, Dene Estate

Moorside Road between Glanville Road and College Burn Road will be closed on Monday 09 August 2021 until Thursday 12 August 2021 between 8am and 6pm, during these dates/times Nexus secured service 37 will divert as follows:
Service 37 - Towards Doxford Park divert after Glanville Road along Moorside Road (North), Doxford Park Way to Doxford Park Shops.
Service 37 - Towards Concord and the Galleries divert after Doxford Shops along Doxford Park Way, Moorside Road (North) to Glanville Road. 
Due to the extent of the closure the service will be unable to serve stops on Moorside Road (South) but will observe stops on the diversionary route.
Customers are advised to catch the bus from the stops on Glanville Road or Doxford Park Way. 



 


 

- Wednesday, 01 September 2021: Routes 135/136 – Silksworth Row, Sunderland

As part of the final phases of the Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor program in Sunderland City Centre, Silksworth Row will be subject to various weekday ONLY closures from Wednesday 11 August 2021 to Wednesday 01 September 2021 between 8pm and 6am. There will be no weekend working or works during the August Bank Holiday weekend. During these dates/times Nexus secured services 135/136 (operated by Go North East) will divert as follows:
Service 135: Towards Witherwack and North Estates, divert after Fawcett Street in Sunderland City Centre along Bridge Street, Wearmouth Bridge, North Bridge Street, Keir Hardy Way, Queens Road, Camden Street Gyratory, Northern Way, Church Bank, re-joining normal route at Sunderland Road in Southwick.  
Service 136: Towards Sunderland Park Lane, divert after Sunderland Road in Southwick along Stoney Lane, Mount Pleasant, Lilburn Place, Queens Road, Kier Hardy Way, North Bridge Street, Wearmouth Bridge, West Wear Street, Bedford re-joining normal route at John Street in Sunderland City Centre.
The sections of route and stops along St Marys Boulevard, Silksworth Row and Pallion New Road to the Queen Alexandra Bridge will be unobserved during these periods. Customers are advised to catch the bus from Park Lane Interchange.
