St Paul's Church Jarrow

Originally built in AD681-685, its chancel survives intact. It has the oldest dated dedication stone of any church in England and was one half of the twin monastery of Wearmouth-Jarrow, home to St Bede the Venerable. It is a candidate for World Heritage status.
