Guide Dog

Guide Dog loves to get around, to explore his surroundings, meet people and be an all-round social butterfly. However, all these things must be well planned and mapped out. He manages to expertly negotiate his way around any area thanks to his meticulous nature and, of course, the fact that he is a walking map. This unique trait has helped win him lots of friends who he guides when they veer off track or need a bit of advice on places to see and explore. He hopes to further increase his social circles from September 19th when he takes up his mantle at the mouth of the Tyne.

He said: “I am honoured to be taking on such an important role and I can’t wait to share my knowledge of the North East with anyone who wants it.

“I was blessed to be born with a photographic memory. All I need to do it take a wander round an area and the roads, buildings and features are imprinted in my mind and on my body.

“In preparation for the Great North Snowdogs trail I’ve been undercover in the local area; I’ve enjoyed spot of tea in some of Tynemouth’s cafes, walked along the coastline to Cullercoats, picked up some freshly caught fish at North Shields Fish Quay, and when my legs got tired I hopped on the Metro and explored further afield.

“Although my cover was blown at Newcastle City Library where I had lots of people giving me attention. I think the people of Newcastle were very impressed with my looks – I heard someone say I was both handsome and helpful!

“I’ve met some wonderful people so far on my travels and I can’t wait to meet so many more soon! I’ll also be keeping an eye on my friend Pawdington who will be over the river at The Customs House in South Shields. He’s got form for going off on adventures so I’ll be there to make sure he can find his way back to his new home if he gets lost!”

Guide Dog is one of the Great North Snowdogs sponsored by Tyne and Wear Metro. Say hello to Guide Dog and follow his adventures on Twitter: @GuideDogSnowdog or see him in person at North Shields Fish Quay from 19 September to 29 November.
