Metro Morning short story competition

Short Story Competition

We recently ran a competition with New Writing North asking our passengers to write a short story (in 250 words or less) that would take us on a journey.

We were delighted by the number of submissions and would like to thank everybody for taking part.

Entries were judged in two categories - adult (16 and over) and child (under 16s). The winners were picked by Claire Malcolm, Chief Executive at New Writing North.

Winner of the adult category is Steve Lancaster with his story 'Wire'.

Runner up in the adult category is Julie Fisher with her story 'From a Distance'

Winner of the child category is Gracie Ward aged 13 with her story 'My famous Metro past'

Well done to all the winners. The winning stories are available to download below.
