Metro Walks: Six of the Best

As well as getting our customers to where they need to be, the Metro also provides the opportunity to explore. Cities, coast and countryside are all on our doorstep and the Metro provides an easy and quick way to get out and about.

Below are a few of our favourite walks - and you can find more ideas in our blog section.

 

  1. Ilford Road to Central Station (4.5miles)

Follow the Ouseburn to the River Tyne through Jesmond Dene, then along the Quayside and up to Central Station. Illford Road to Central station (4.5 miles)

 

  1. Seaburn to St Peter’s (4 miles)

Down to the seafront at Seaburn, along to Roker, passing the marina, mouth of the River Wear and the National Glass Centre to St Peter’s.  Seaburn to St Peter's (4 miles)

 

  1. Gateshead to Saltwell Park and return (3.5miles)

A circular, urban walk passing many points of interest and a visit to Saltwell Park before returning. Gateshead to Saltwell Park to Gateshead (3.5 miles)

 

  1. Byker to Wallsend (4.5 miles)

Through the Byker Wall and along the banks of the River Tyne to arrive at Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend. Byker to Wallsend (4.5 miles)

 

  1. Whitley Bay to Tynemouth (5 miles)

Through Whitley Bay and along the seafront through Cullercoats to Tynemouth. Whitley Bay to Tynemouth (5 miles)

 

  1. South Shields to Seaburn (9 miles)

From South Shields town centre, through South Marine Park and along the coastal path to Seaburn.  South Shields to Seaburn (9 miles)
