Four day Major Line Closure for improvement works Airport - Regent Centre, Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June 2025


During the line closure no trains will run between Airport and Regent Centre in both directions.  

The closure is needed so we can carry out modernisation work of the Metro level crossings at Callerton Parkway and Bank Foot as well as other work, including bridge repairs, signalling cable renewals, essential maintenance at an electrical substation, graffiti removal, and the re-painting of the yellow safety lines on station platforms. 
 

Replacement bus services
You'll still be able to make your journey as a replacement bus service number 901 will be running in both directions between Airport and Regent Centre.  

Metro tickets and passes will be valid on the replacement bus service. The replacement bus driver will also be selling tickets.  If you use a smartcard, please remember to tap in and out at the start and end of your journey.

Your journey will take longer especially if transferring between different modes of transport so please leave extra time for travel and plan your journey in advance.
 

Train services
During the line closure trains will be running frequently in all other areas.  For the latest service updates please use the Pop App.
 

Level crossing closures
Due to the nature of the work taking place the level crossings at Bank Foot and Callerton Parkway will be closed to both pedestrians and road vehicles during the four day period. 

At Bank Foot there is an alternative location to cross the track, about a five minute walk from the station.  There will also be a shuttle taxi service in operation at Bank Foot between 5.30am and 12.15am that will run back and forth to each side of the tracks.   The alternative walking route, taxi shuttle stop locations and timetable can be viewed below.    

At Callerton Parkway station there are no alternative crossing point over the track. Local residents and businesses have been contacted.
 

Residents near to the Metro line
Residents close to the Metro line or compound areas may experience work near to their home including night-time work and an increase in activity by our teams.  We will do all we can to keep noise levels to a minimum.

Car parks
A works compound will be in place in the car park at Bank Foot and Callerton Parkway. The compounds will be used to store materials and equipment leading up to and during the Major Line Closure and for other improvement work.

The car parks will remain open, but the number of available parking bays will be reduced. Details of other car parking facilities at or near to Metro stations

Frequent replacement bus services will be running during the line closure.  Your journey will take longer than usual so please leave extra time for your journey.  

Replacement bus service number 901 will be calling at or near to all station between Airport and Regent Centre in both directions.
