From Monday 15 to Sunday 28 February, no trains will run between Heworth and Regent Centre or Heworth and Four Lane Ends. This is to allow us to replace 18,000 metres of overhead line wire. Trains will run as normal again from Monday 1 March.
When the line is closed, a replacement bus service number 900 will call at, or close to all stations in the affected area. Two Express replacement bus services X900 and X901 will also be provided and will call at just some stations. Some replacement bus services do not connect to the first/last train so may start/end their journey at Benton/Pelaw, please check bus timetables for details.
Tickets and passes will be valid on the bus and the driver will also sell tickets (please try to have the correct change). Remember to touch in and out with your smartcard at the start and end of your journey.
Trains will be running between Airport and Regent Centre, Heworth-South Hylton (except on Sunday 21 February when Network Rail work takes place), St James-Four Lane Ends and Heworth-South Shields.
Your journey will take longer so please check train and bus times before travelling and leave additional time for your journey.
Replacement bus stop location maps, Sunday replacement bus times and train times will be posted soon.
