Nexus has procured the delivery of a £362 million train fleet, with the support of the Government. Stadler, the Swiss train manufacturer, won the contract to design, build and maintain the new fleet.

Other work - Airport door maintenance			Line Closure - No trains between Benton and North Shields 28 October No trains between Benton and North Shields 28 October No trains between Benton and North Shields after about 9.30pm on Saturday 28 October On Saturday 28 October no trains will run between Benton and North Shields in either direction after about 9.30pm (the time will vary depending on location and direction of travel). This is to allow for overhead line work. We will also be carrying out secondary work during the closure, including station and lineside management and inspections of retaining walls, tracks and embankments. The last train to leave Benton towards North Shields will be 9.08pm (arrives at North Shields 9.28pm) The last train from North Shields towards Benton will be 9.21pm (arrives at Benton 9.41pm) Trains will be running to all other locations, a revised timetable will be in place. A replacement bus service number 900 will be running between Four Lane Ends and North Shields. You may find transferring between Metro and the replacement bus easier at Four Lane Ends than at Benton as this is an interchange station. Your journey will take longer so please leave extra time. No trains will be running between Benton and North Shields (in either direction) after about 9.30pm on Saturday 28 October and all day on Sunday 29 October. To access the other side of the station please follow the diversion signs.
