Modernisation work:

There are no trains running between South Gosforth and Shiremoor until 6.30pm on Sunday 23 February to allow for over head line renewal work.

We are operating a replacement bus service, the number 900, calling at or near to all stations from Regent Centre to Shiremoor (calling at South Gosforth). Replacement bus stop location maps and timetables are available at nexus.org.uk/metro.

Manors Platform 1 Lift:

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- Haymarket escalator maintenance

One of the escalators at Haymarket is currently out of use until early Spring.  We are waiting for parts which must be made specially. Once we have these we’ll do our very best to get the escalator back in service as quickly as possible.  We’re sorry for any inconvenience.



 


 

- Haymarket exit only

Haymarket station will be exit only Monday - Friday between 8.15am and 9.15am, to assist with crowd control.  During this time entry into the station will not be permitted. Please use Monument or Jesmond.  Trains will stop at Haymarket as usual and exiting the station will be possible.  This arrangement will be in place until about March 2020.  We're sorry for any inconvenience.



 


 

- No trains between South Gosforth and Shiremoor

On Saturday 22 February no trains will run between South Gosforth and Shiremoor to allow for over head power line renewal work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Regent Centre - Shiremoor (calling at South Gosforth).

On Sunday 23 February up until about 6.30pm no trains will run between South Gosforth and Shiremoor to allow for over head power line renewal work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Regent Centre - Shiremoor (calling at South Gosforth). 

The first trains to run after the work: South Gosforth towards Shiremoor 6.18pm and from Shiremoor towards South Gosforth 6.19pm.

On Saturday 29 February no trains will run between Wallsend and Tynemouth to allow for work on the temporary depot in Howdon.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Wallsend - Tynemouth. 

Some late night buses will continue to Longbenton from Tynemouth and to Monument from Wallsend as they do not connect to the last trains.  Please check train and bus times before travelling to ensure you have sufficient time for any transport connections.

- No trains between Heworth and Jarrow and Heworth and Brockley Whins

On Saturday 7 March no trains will run between Heworth and Jarrow or between Heworth and Brockley Whins to allow for track work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will call at or close to all stations Heworth to Jarrow and bus 901 between Heworth and Brockley Whins.

Please note some bus services will start/end service at Bede instead of Jarrow, some late night buses will continue to Benton via Regent Centre (drop off only after Heworth) and other late night buses from Heworth will end service at Pelaw.

Trains will be running to all other stations but will not be to usual timetable or to usual frequency.  On Saturday daytime trains will run to a 15 minute frequency (7.5 minutes in Newcastle city centre), on the evening a 20 minute frequency (10 minutes in Newcastle city centre).

- No trains between Heworth and Jarrow and Heworth and Brockley Whins

On Sunday 8 March no trains will run between Heworth and Jarrow or between Heworth and Brockley Whins to allow for track work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will call at or close to all stations Heworth to Jarrow and bus 901 between Heworth and Brockley Whins.

Please note some bus services will start/end service at Bede instead of Jarrow, some late night buses will continue to Benton via Regent Centre (drop off only after Heworth) and other late night buses from Heworth will end service at Pelaw.

Trains will be running to all other stations but will not be to usual timetable or to usual frequency.  On Sunday before 10.00am a train will run every 30 minutes (15 minutes in Newcastle city centre) and after 10.00am every 20 minutes (10 minutes in Newcastle city centre).

- Planned lift outage Park Lane platform 2

The lift on platform 2 of Park Lane will be out of use from 7.30am until 12.00pm on the following days:
Tuesday 25 February
Tuesday 17 March
Thursday 2 April
Tuesday 7 April

If you require step free access and wish to travel from Park Lane towards Sunderland board a train from platform 1, travel to University, change to platform 2 and board a train to continue your journey.  If you need step free access and want to leave the train at Park Lane platform 2 (towards Sunderland), stay on the train to Sunderland, change platform and return to Park Lane platform 1.

- Planned lift outage Manors platform 1

The lift on platform 1 of Manors will be out of use from 7.30am until 12.00pm on the following days:
Wednesday 26 February
Wednesday 18 March
Friday 3 April

If you require step free access and wish to travel from Manors towards Byker board a train from platform 2, travel to Monument, change to platform 3 and board a train to continue your journey.  If you need step free access and want to leave the train at Manors platform 1 (towards Byker), stay on the train to Byker, change platform and return to Manors platform 2.
