When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- No trains between Benton and Tynemouth

All day on Saturday 24 October no trains will run between Benton and Tynemouth in either direction to allow for overhead line work.  A replacement bus service 900 will be running between Four Lane Ends and Tynemouth. The last three replacement bus services to Four Lane Ends will continue to Longbenton as they do not connect to the last train. Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus and tickets can be purchased from the driver (please try to have the correct change).

Trains will be running to all other areas but may not be to the usual timetable especially between St James and Tynemouth where a 20-30 minute service will run.  Check bus and train times before travelling and leave extra time for your journey. For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 (lines open Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm).

The pedestrian crossing between West Monkseaton and Shiremoor that leads from Murton Village over the Metro tracks to Otterburn Avenue, will be closed from 6.00am Saturday 24 October until 6.00pm Sunday 25 October.

All day on Sunday 25 October no trains will run between Benton and Tynemouth in either direction to allow for overhead line work.  A replacement bus service 900 will be running between Four Lane Ends and Tynemouth. The last three replacement bus services to Four Lane Ends will continue to Longbenton and the last three buses to Tynemouth will continue to Monument (via Wallsend), as they do not connect to the last train. Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus and tickets can be purchased from the driver (please try to have the correct change).

Metro timetable - Updated 19 October 

When travelling on Metro stay apart from others, wash or sanitise your hands regularly and wear a face covering on the train and in stations, this is compulsory. 

Monday to Friday we plan to run a normal service between St James-South Shields and Airport-South Hylton.  From about 8.00pm the service frequency reduces to a train every 30 minutes.  .  

On weekends a normal timetable is in operation (some train times may be changed if planned modernisation work is taking place).
