LIFT OUT OF SERVICE
-The lift at Central between the mainline station and concourse level is currently out of service. Staff are travelling to rectify this as soon as possible. For step free access, please use Monument. Please use a station help point for further assistance.
-The lift at St Peter's platform 1 is out of service. If customers require step free access, please travel on to the next station and return. Please use a station help point for further assistance.

ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
Anti-social behaviour in any form will not be tolerated. It affects our customers and often causes delays to our service. Please:

-Text REPORTIT with details of the incident to 66777 (when police are not required).
-Northumbria Police - 999 for emergencies or 101 for non-emergencies.
-BTP (for incidents on the Sunderland line) - text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40.

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

Ongoing station Improvement Work

Monkseaton: Canopy gable end work is underway. Some of the station entrances need to be closed, access to and from the station is still possible, please follow the directional signage. The car park is closed and the cycle lockers have been removed (until April 2024).
Whitley Bay: Work on the canopy steelwork and glazing will continue until Spring 2025.  Full details of the work here.



- Monument lift outage

We need to carry out some work on the lift between the ticket concourse and Eldon Square.   The lift will be out of service from 10.00pm on Monday 22 April until 5.00am the following day.  If you require step free access while the lift is out of use, please use St James, Haymarket or Central Station.   Thank you for bearing with us.

We need to carry out some work on the lift at Haymarket.   The lift will be out of service from 10.00pm on Tuesday 23 April until 5.00am the following day.  If you require step free access while the lift is out of use, please use Monument.  Thank you for bearing with us.



- Staircase work at East Boldon

Staircase improvements at East Boldon 

The staircase and landing area on platform 1 side of the station will be closed from Monday 29 April for about three weeks while resurfacing work takes place.  For access, please follow the diversion signs that will be placed out at the station. 



- No trains between Pelaw and South Hylton

No trains between Pelaw and South Hylton on Sunday 19 May until about 11.30am

On Sunday 19 May, no trains will run between Pelaw and South Hylton in both directions until about 11.30am (the time will vary depending on location and the direction of travel), to allow for Network Rail work. 

Trains will be running elsewhere on the system but may not be to the usual timetable.  Please check train times before travelling and leave extra time for your journey.  

Replacement bus service
A replacement bus service number 901 will be running between Heworth and South Hylton in both directions.  Your journey will take longer so please leave extra time for travelling.
