The lift at Monument between the platforms and the concourse is currently out of service. We are working to rectify this as quickly as possible. Customers requiring step free access in the city centre are advised to use either; St James, Manors, Haymarket or Central station. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- No trains between Gateshead Stadium-Jarrow or Gateshead Stadium-South Hylton

Improvement Works - Sunday 14 August until about 6.15pm. 

No trains will run between Gateshead Stadium and Jarrow or between Gateshead Stadium and South Hylton in either direction on Sunday 14 August until about 6.15pm (the time will vary depending on location and direction of travel).  Replacement bus services will be running, bus 900 between Gateshead and Jarrow and bus service 901 between Gateshead and South Hylton.  

Trains will be running to all other stations but may not be to the usual timetable. More details are available in the Timetable changes section.

The first train to run from Gateshead Stadium towards Heworth will be 6.07pm, the first train from Jarrow towards Heworth 6.21pm and the first train from South Hylton towards Heworth 6.52pm.

- South Gosforth footbridge temporary closure

On Monday 15 August from 8.00am to 4.30pm, the footbridge at South Gosforth station will be closed so we can install tactile edging.  Access between platforms will be possible via the staircase/ramp outside of the ticket area and the main footpath on Station Road. 



 


 

- No trains between Pelaw and South Hylton

Sunday 21 August after about 10.00pm. 

No trains will run between Pelaw and South Hylton in either direction on Sunday 21 August after about 10.00pm (the time will vary depending on location and direction of travel).  To allow Network Rail to carry out maintenance work.  The last train from Pelaw towards South Hylton will be 10.13pm and the last train from South Hylton towards Pelaw will be 10.52pm.  A replacement bus service, number 901 will be running, calling at or close to all stations Heworth to South Hylton.    

Trains will be running to all other stations but will not be to the usual timetable. More details are available in the Timetable changes section.

Revised Metro timetable Saturday 13 August

The Improvement Work between Gateshead Stadium-Jarrow and Gateshead Stadium-South Hylton on Sunday 14 August means we need to revise our train service on Saturday 13 August.  The revised train timetable showing key stations is listed below.

Revised Metro timetable Sunday 14 August

On Sunday 14 August, no trains will run between Gateshead Stadium-Jarrow or between Gateshead Stadium-South Hylton in either direction until about 6.15pm* to allow for improvements works.  A replacement bus service will be running.
*The time varies depending on location and the direction of travel.  

First trains to run after the work in the affected area, Gateshead Stadium towards Heworth 6.07pm, Jarrow towards Heworth 6.21pm and South Hylton towards Heworth 6.52pm.

Due to National Rail strike action on Thursday 18 August (which Nexus are not part of) Metro services are unable to operate on Network Rail infrastructure.  Therefore no trains will run between Pelaw and South Hylton in either direction all day on Thursday 18 August.  In addition, some early morning and late evening services elsewhere on the system will not operate.

On Thursday 18 August Metro services will start later that usual between Pelaw and South Hylton and some early morning trains elsewhere on the system will not operate.  First train from Pelaw towards South Hylton will be 7.13am and the first train from South Hylton will be 7.50am.
