17 July 2017 - Brockley Whins Network Rail work

Network Rail are carrying out work on the railway embankment at Brockley Whins.  During the work Brockley Whins station will remain open as usual and pedestrian step free access will be possible.  There will be access for road vehicles via a temporary traffic control system, please follow the instructions on the road signs. Work will be complete by mid November. 


31 July 2017 - Major Line Closure

Two phase Major Line Closure Monday 31 July - Saturday 2 September.  To allow for work at Northumberland Park station and track and bridge renewal work which forms part of the £350m Metro: all change modernisation programme.

Phase 1 Monday 31 July – Friday 11 August:  No trains will run in either direction between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends.  Replacement buses, service 900, will call at, or close to all stations between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends (begins and ends at Regent Centre).

Phase 2 Saturday 12 August – Saturday 2 September: No trains will run in either direction between South Gosforth and Shiremoor.  Replacement buses, service 900, will call at, or close to all stations between South Gosforth and Shiremoor (begins and ends at Regent Centre).

Services between South Gosforth and Shiremoor will resume on Sunday 3 September.


3 September 2017 - No trains Hebburn - South Shields on Sunday 3 September until about 6.35pm

On Sunday 3 September no trains will run in either direction between Hebburn and South Shields until about 6.35pm to allow for maintenance work.  A replacement bus, the number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations in the affected area.  Metro tickets and passes will be valid on the bus service and the driver will sell tickets.  Your journey will take longer so please leave extra traveling time. Replacement bus timetables and bus stop location maps will be available soon.  For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 (open 8.00am - 6.00pm, Monday to Friday) or use the Live Travel Map.
