A train has been withdrawn from service due to vandalism, this will affect those travelling between St James and South Shields in both directions. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Haymarket will be an exit only station today. This is due to on-going repairs to two of its three escalators and the need to manage crowd control. Please use Monument, Jesmond or Central Metro stations for access to trains when this is in place.

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- Haymarket escalator maintenance

One of the escalators at Haymarket is currently out of use while essential maintenance work takes place. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 



 


 

- No trains South Gosforth - Heworth

On Saturday 23 November no trains will run between South Gosforth and Heworth to allow for renewal of the overhead line, part of which is over the QEII bridge, vegetation clearance work and track replacement in the tunnels underneath Newcastle city centre.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Regent Centre - Heworth.

Replacement bus stop locations and bus timetable are available below.  Your journey will take longer so please check train times and leave extra time for travel.

- No trains between Airport and South Gosforth

On Sunday 1 December no trains will run between Airport and South Gosforth all day to allow for track maintenance work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Airport to Four Lane Ends (via South Gosforth).  The replacement bus continues to Four Lane Ends to turn and make the return journey to Airport. Trains will be running from South Gosforth towards St James (via Whitley Bay), South Shields and South Hylton.

- Haymarket exit only

Haymarket station will be exit only Monday - Friday between 8.15am and 9.15am, to assist with crowd control.  During this time entry into the station will not be permitted. Please use Monument or Jesmond.  Trains will stop at Haymarket as usual and exiting the station will be possible.  This arrangement will be in place until about March 2020.  We're sorry for any inconvenience.

Temporary timetable change
On Saturday 23 and 24 November renewal of the overhead line will take place between South Gosforth and Heworth. Due to the work some scheduled trains on Friday 22, Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and early morning on Monday 25 November will be affected. The changes to service are listed below.
