Maintenance work
No trains are running between Hebburn and South Shields in either direction today 25 June, until about 6.35pm. This is to allow for track and vegetation work.

The replacement bus service, number 900 is calling at or close to all stations in the affected area. Replacement bus timetables and bus stand locations are available at nexus.org.uk/metro.

25 June 2017 - No trains South Shields - Hebburn

15 July 2017 - No trains South Gosforth - Shiremoor

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July no trains will run in either direction between South Gosforth and Shiremoor to allow for preparation work for the major line closure starting on 31 July.  A replacement bus, the number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations between South Gosforth and Shiremoor (begins and ends service at Regent Centre).  Metro tickets and passes will be valid on the bus service and the driver will sell tickets.  Your journey will take longer so please leave extra traveling time. For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 or use the Live Travel Map.  Replacement bus timetables and bus stop location maps will be available soon.

31 July 2017 - Major Line Closure

 

Two phase Major Line Closure Monday 31 July - Saturday 2 September.  To allow for track and bridge renewal work which forms part of the £350m Metro: all change modernisation programme.
 

Phase 1 Monday 31 July – Friday 11 August:  No trains will run in either direction between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends.  Replacement buses, service 900, will call at, or close to all stations between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends (begins and ends at Regent Centre).

Phase 2 Saturday 12 August – Saturday 2 September: No trains will run in either direction between South Gosforth and Shiremoor.  Replacement buses, service 900, will call at, or close to all stations between South Gosforth and Shiremoor (begins and ends at Regent Centre).
