Industrial action by RMT union.
As a result of reduced driver availability 1 core train and 0 peaks have been cancelled today, 16th December 2019. Details of journeys affected at nexus.org.uk and below. We have gaps in service and trains are busy. If possible leave extra time for your journey or travel outside of peak hours. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

0618 South Shields – St James
Haymarket Metro station will be an exit only station 8.15am to 9.15am, Monday to Friday. This is due to on-going repairs to one of its three escalators and the need to manage crowd control while we only have 2 escalators in service. Please use Monument, Jesmond or Central for access to trains in Newcastle city centre when this is in place.

The lift at Walkergate platform 1 is currently out of service. Passengers are advised to continue their journey to Wallsend and return via platform 2.
The lift at Fellgate platform 2 is currently out of service. Passengers are advised to continue their journey to Pelaw and return via platform 1.

- Haymarket escalator maintenance
One of the escalators at Haymarket is currently out of use while essential maintenance work takes place. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
- Haymarket exit only
Haymarket station will be exit only Monday - Friday between 8.15am and 9.15am, to assist with crowd control. During this time entry into the station will not be permitted. Please use Monument or Jesmond. Trains will stop at Haymarket as usual and exiting the station will be possible. This arrangement will be in place until about March 2020. We're sorry for any inconvenience.
- No trains between Bede and South Shields
On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 January no trains will run between Bede and South Shields to allow for track maintenance work. During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Jarrow - South Shields.

- No trains between South Gosforth and Heworth
On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 January no trains will run between South Gosforth and Heworth to allow for overhead line renewal work. During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Regent Centre - Heworth.
Some replacement bus services start/end service at Pelaw and some late night trains go to Benton (via Haddricks Mill, South Gosforth). Please check train and bus times before travelling to ensure you have sufficient time for any transport connections.
