Due to a technical fault the footbridge lifts at Benton are currently out of service. We are working to fix the problem as quickly as possible and will update you further once the issue has been resolved.

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- Sunderland Station reduced opening hours

Sunderland Station has reduced opening hours to: Monday-Saturday 6.00am-10.30pm and Sunday 6.30am-10.30pm. Outside of these times trains will run through the station without stopping.



 


 

- No trains between Hebburn and South Shields

On Thursday 16 April no trains will run between Hebburn and South Shields to allow for track renewal work.  During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations in the affected area.

Replacement bus stop location maps and bus timetables are below.  Your journey will take longer so please check train times and leave extra time for travel.

- Airport alternative exit

The doorway to the Airport terminal from the station will be open from 7.00am until 1.00pm only, until further notice.  Outside of these times please use the alternative doorway located midway up the covered ramp walkway that leads from the station concourse.

Trains are running to a reduced frequency seven days a week. During the daytime there will be a 24 minute frequency and on an evening a 30 minute frequency. Your journey will take longer so please leave extra travel time. 

The safety and wellbeing of our customers and our employees is our top priority and as per government guidelines people should only use public transport for essential journeys.

Train times for key stations are available below.  Please note the timetable on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April is different to our usual reduced service.  This is due to planned maintenance work taking place between St James and Tynemouth all day Saturday 4 and up until about 6.30pm on Sunday 5 April.

Good Friday 10 April and Easter Monday 13 April

We will run to the reduced weekday service without the additional peak service short journey trains.  Train times are available below.
