The Queen and The Duke and of Edinburgh paid a visit to the Stadium of Light Metro station during their visit to Sunderland.
The Queen and The Duke arrived at Stadium of Light on board the Royal Train where they were welcomed by the Director General of Nexus Bernard Garner and other civic dignitaries.
The visit comes 28 years to the day since Her Majesty officially opened the Tyne and Wear Metro system on November 6 1981.
The Royal couple were in Sunderland to visit the city’s impressive new Aquatic Centre swimming pool.
