
A former star of The Voice is to perform Sam Fender songs for thousands of Metro customers as they head to see the three-time Brit Award winner take to the stage.
Singer Nick Dixon will cover Fender’s most popular tracks at Monument Metro station as the fans travel into Newcastle to see the Sam Fender concerts at St James’ Park.
Nick’s set list has the most familiar Sam Fender hits, including Getting Started, Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles.
It's a great way to get the fans in the mood as excitement for the three concerts hits fever pitch.
Nick, who starred on The Voice in 2013, said he was honoured to get the gig and was looking forward to busking on Metro ahead of the concerts.
Sam Fender will headline three shows at St James’ Park this week as part of his People Watching Tour – 12, 14 and 15 June.
Nick. 29, of Hartlepool, will perform in the ticket concourse at Monument in the two hours leading up to each concert.
He said: “Sam Fender is one of my musical heroes. His songs have always really resonated with me. To be able to perform his music on the Tyne and Wear Metro on the night of his concerts is a real honour for me. It’s really exciting and I’m grateful to Nexus for letting me play.
“I hope that I can help to get everyone in the mood for the concerts as they pass through the Metro station. I’ve covered Sam Fender before, and I’m looking forward to playing some of his best loved songs and I hope his fans enjoy it.”
