The Shields Ferry will not be operating any evening crossings from Monday, 4 November, and this is likely to be in place for the next few months.
We have to temporarily reduce our Ferry timetable due to unexpected challenges with crew availability. Our team are working hard to get this issue rectified as soon possible.
The timetable changes mean that going forward, from Mondays to Saturdays, the last crossing from South Shields will be at 5.45pm. The last crossing from North Shields will be 6pm.
When Ferry services are withdrawn customers will be able to use their Ferry tickets on the Tyne and Wear Metro and on the Go North East service number 9 which runs between North Shields and Jarrow. We are not able to run replacement buses as the customer numbers in the evening are so low.
Our Sunday timetable will remain the same, running 10.15am to 6pm.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is going to cause over the next few months.
