Nexus staff joined with the rest of the nation in the final Clap for Carers event yesterday, Thursday May 28.
Last night’s tribute to NHS and care workers on the coronavirus frontline was officially the final outing for an event which has brought the nation together during the Covid-19 crisis.
Staff from across Nexus have taken part Clap for Carers since it started at the end of March.
Last night saw Shields Ferry crews and passengers joining in alongside Customer Service staffers at Gateshead Interchange and Haymarket bus station in Newcastle.
Clap for Carers has become a weekly ritual across the country.
The event, has seen people from all parts of the UK gathering on their doorsteps, balconies and at their windows to applaud those working on the coronavirus frontline.
The weekly cheer was the brainchild of Annemarie Plas, who says that Thursday evening's display of gratitude should be the last of its kind.
The country began clapping for key workers just as the UK went into lockdown.
