Nexus workers have been spreading festive cheer in the countdown to Christmas – donning their Santa hats for a new campaign promoting public transport over the holiday season.
Customer service teams from the Tyne and Wear Metro feature in the campaign alongside area controllers at bus interchanges, the Shields Ferry crew and station cleaners.
They teams were photographed around the transport network in their Christmas hats – and they shared a message of ‘season’s greeting to everyone of you’.
And they were also interviewed, sharing their favourite things about working in public transport over the festive period, how they spend Christmas, and sharing key advice for customers travelling over Christmas and New Year.
Nexus also provided customers with a Christmas treat – free cups of coffee at the many different shops and outlets across the Metro network’s 60 stations.
Metro brand ambassadors were out about on the system too, handing out pocket sized Christmas timetables, Metro branded and Christmas themed reusable shopping bags and reusable coffee cups at Monument and South Shields stations.
Customer Services Director at Nexus, Huw Lewis, said: “The festive period is a busy time for local public transport networks. It’s great to see our frontline teams getting in the Christmas spirit already - and ready to welcome customers who rely on buses, Metros and ferries to get around over the holiday season.
“What better way to start the campaign than to don a Santa hat and wish all of our loyal customers a very Merry Xmas.
“Our teams were great sports for taking part in the campaign and the message really resonates when it comes from the frontline workers who keep public transport moving during festive period.
“Apart from Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the public transport networks will be running, and many of our staff will be out there on duty doing an amazing job.
“We also wanted to give some thanks to our customers this Christmas, which is why we have teamed up with our tenants across the Metro network to offer a free cuppa and give away some Metro goody bags.”
