From Monday 22 February 2010, work commences on the bridge replacement at White Mare Pool A184 flyover, which is expected to take until November 2010. Whilst these works are taking place, the Wardley Bus Gate on the A184 will be taken out of use.
The following Go North East services will be affected for the entire duration of the work:
Service 26 – Heworth-bound buses will not be able to serve Sunderland Road in Wardley and will operate via A184, calling at existing bus stops on A184 only. Service 26 towards Sunderland will operate via Sunderland Road at Wardley in this direction only.
Service 57 – will operate normal route from Meresyde to Lingey lane, Leam Lane, A184, then Black Bull westbound slip road and Sunderland Road to rejoin normal route at Whitemere Gardens.
Services 57 & 57A – No alteration to standard routes. Increased levels of traffic congestion may cause delays to these services at busy times due to lane closures at White Mare Pool roundabout.
Services 69 & 69A – No alteration to standard routes. Increased traffic levels approaching Black Bull junction may cause delays to these services at busy times.
Services X9 & X10 – No alteration to standard routes. Increased traffic levels due to contra-flow working on A184 may cause delays to these services at busy times.
There will be no timetable changes to the services listed above. Regular monitoring of all services affected by the White Mare Pool works will be undertaken at regular intervals and customers will be updated further if any other alterations will need to be made.
