Take the kids free at weekends on the Shields Ferry

During 2020, up to three kids aged 11 and under can travel free on the Shields Ferry at weekends and on bank holidays with a fare-paying adult, and that includes anyone aged 18 or over using:

  •     Pop PAYG Ferry Single/Day Ticket
  •     Ferry Single/Day Ticket
  •     Ferry Season Ticket
  •     Ferry Carnet
  •     Adult Transfare
  •     Corporate Metro Season Ticket
  •     Pop blue*
  •     Concessionary Travel Single/Return Ticket
  •     Metro Gold Card
  •     Network One Explorer North East
  •     Network One Day Rover (Adult or Family Ticket)
  •     Network One Anytime ticket  (this must include zone three)
  •     Network One Students and Young People Ticket*  (this must include zone three)

With an ‘All Zones’ ticket ie Zones A+B+C of the Metro network:

  •     Metro Single/Day Ticket
  •     Metro Season Ticket
  •     Student Metro Season Ticket
  •     18 and Under Metro Season Ticket*

*provided the card/ticket holder is aged 18 or over; proof of age may be requested

How to take up the offer

The fare-paying adult must be aged 18 or over and in possession of a valid ticket or validated smartcard. The accompanying children don't need to have a ticket – simply speak to a member of the ferry crew when you board.

Bus service 333

This family offer is also valid on service 333 during Saturday daytime (note: last bus departs North Shields ferry landing 17.27).
