The 18 and Under Metro Season Ticket is valid on the whole of the Metro system. You can get a ticket for either one or four weeks. From 15 December 2024 you can also travel on the Northumberland Line with Junior blue.
This ticket gives you 62% discount off an adult season ticket and is valid on the Metro, Shields Ferry and local rail services between Newcastle and Sunderland. It can also be used on the Quaylink Central Zone buses.

If you're aged between 16-18 years old the 18 and under Metro Season ticket is for you. This ticket gives you 62% discount off an adult season ticket and is valid on the Metro, Shields Ferry and local rail services between Newcastle and Sunderland*. Bus services 53, 54 and QuayCity Q3**.
From 15 December 2024 you can also travel on the Northumberland Line with an 18 and Under Metro Season Ticket.
* You need a special ticket to accompany your smartcard to travel between Newcastle and Sunderland on Northern Rail. Which can be requested from Customer Relations by calling 0191 20 20 747 (lines are open Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm).
** Central Zone covers Q3 buses between Haymarket bus station and St Peter's Basin.
You do not need to be in full time education to be eligible for the 18 and Under Metro Season Ticket.
How to buy one
Buy your 18 and Under Season Ticket online. Your ticket will be loaded onto a Pop card.
Your Pop card will take about five working days to arrive in the post.
Once you have your Pop card you can renew your 18 and Under Metro Season Ticket:
