When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- No trains between St James and North Shields

All day on Saturday 3 October no trains will run between St James and North Shields to allow for work on the track.  A replacement bus service 900 will be running.  Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus and tickets can be purchased from the driver (please try to have the correct change).

The level crossing at Bank Foot and Callerton Parkway will be closed to pedestrians and road vehicles all day Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October.  An alternative crossing point for pedestrians is available at Bank Foot (about a five minute walk) and there will be transport at Callerton Parkway to take you by road to the opposite side of the tracks.

Metro timetable - Updated 28 September 

When travelling on Metro stay apart from others, wash or sanitise your hands regularly and wear a face covering on the train and in stations, this is compulsory. 

Monday to Friday we plan to run a normal service between St James-South Shields and Airport-South Hylton.  From about 8.00pm the service frequency reduces to a train every 30 minutes.  .  

On weekends a normal timetable is in operation (some train times may be changed if planned modernisation work is taking place).
