No Metro disruptions

When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- Chichester platform 2 closure

Chichester platform 2 will be closed from 4 November until about August 2019, due to signalling constraints in place while building work on the new South Shields interchange takes place.  During the closure, if you’d like to travel from Chichester towards Pelaw, board a train from platform 1, travel to South Shields and remain on the train.  Anyone wishing to leave the train at Chichester after travelling from South Shields should stay on the train to Tyne Dock, change platforms and return to Chichester platform 1.  For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 (lines open Monday to Friday 8.00am - 6.00pm)

- No trains South Gosforth - Shiremoor

All day on Sunday 2 December, no trains will run between South Gosforth and Shiremoor to allow for modernisation work.  During the work a replacement bus number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations between Regent Centre and Shiremoor (calling at South Gosforth).  The last bus towards Shiremoor will continue to Monument (via Whitley Bay).  Replacement bus stop locations and timetables below.

During the work access to the depot will be restricted.  To ensure all of the trains get into the depot to receive overnight maintenance, we need to remove some trains from service earlier than usual.  This means from about 10.00pm the frequency of trains will be between 8 and 35 minutes (depending on the location and if a service has been returned to the depot).  Train timetables after 10.00pm are available below.

Your journey will take longer so please leave extra time for travel.  For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 (open Monday - Friday 8.00am - 6.00pm) or use the Live Travel Map.
