When we are running a good service the status will show as ‘No Metro disruptions’. Any delays (less than 15 minutes) to service will be announced via the station PA system and passenger information boards. If delays occur resulting in trains running more than 15 minutes later than advertised the status will be updated by an automatic travel alert system.

- No trains between Shiremoor and North Shields

All day on Sunday 27 September no trains will run between Shiremoor and North Shields to allow for overhead line renewal work.  A replacement bus service 900 will be running between Shiremoor and North Shields, some late night buses will continue to Longbenton from Shiremoor and to Monument from North Shields as they do not connect to the last train.  Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus and tickets can be purchased from the driver (please try to have the correct change).

Trains will be running to all other stations but may not be to usual timetable.  Please note a reduced train frequency of a train every 24/30 minutes will run between North Shields and St James.

Metro timetable - Updated 22 September 

When travelling on Metro stay apart from others, wash or sanitise your hands regularly and wear a face covering on the train and in stations, this is compulsory. 

Monday to Friday we plan to run a normal service between St James-South Shields and Airport-South Hylton.  From about 8.00pm the service frequency reduces to a train every 30 minutes.  .  

On weekends a normal timetable is in operation (some train times may be changed if planned modernisation work is taking place).
