Abstract Murals artwork

Simon Butler’s murals relate to what he perceived as the dominant visual feature of the Metro Station; namely the modular structure of the surrounding architecture.

Inherent in the regularity of the vitreous enamel panels cladding the station walls, Butler recognised an opportunity to change their regular form in order to create a smooth transition from one area to another. His work is concerned with an exploration of geometric shape, dynamic colour and the structural flexibility of the material.

‘Abstract Murals’ provides a visual counterpoint that both complements and contrasts with the surrounding architecture.
