Looking for an alternative to reading during your Metro journey? Dive into our latest blog where we share an exciting collection of podcasts that have been our companions during our own commutes. With a diverse array of topics and genres, we’ve curated a blend of popular favourites among our team and top-charting sensations in the podcast world. Get ready to transform your commute into an adventure of learning and entertainment!

 1. SMA
It's important to laugh more, so we thought we would start off with ’SMA’ by Chris and Rosie Ramsey. This husband-and-wife comedic duo regularly play the North East from arenas to local theatres. Their podcast of the same name is a nice mix of real life anecdotes but brought to life in a way only they can. And who doesn’t love a local couple done well for themselves. Listeners will know that this podcast is a bit more adult than others in terms of the humour, but we couldn’t not share such a funny answer to all the dramas family and adulting life has to offer.

2. Under the Cosh

We couldn’t create a blog of podcasts without including a footie one for our Metro customers.  Comedy writer Chris Brown, with ex -Sunderland, Cardiff, Doncaster and Stoke strikers Chris Brown and Jon Parkin chat with special guests for an often hilarious glimpse into the world of football. A worthy listen for anyone interested in football or sport in general.

3. Spinning Plates

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is spinning plates - a pop star, a working mum bringing up five children aged between 1 and 16. Join her while she speaks to a host of interesting and inspirational women who’ve really made Sophie laugh, and sometimes cry. Spinning Plates with Sophie Ellis-Bextor | Podcast on Spotify

4. All Things TV

A new national podcast recently launched is All Things TV, a bit like Gogglebox but for your ears. Hosted by none other than Stacey from Gavin and Stacey and Sonia from Eastenders this lively podcast is a really fun way to find out more about what to watch after work, or even on your Metro journey (if you’ve headphones of course, and just watch out you don’t miss your stop engrossed in the latest drama!)

5. The Rest is Money

Presenters Steph Morven and Robert Peston use their in-depth knowledge of consumer rights to give advice to everything from listeners with faulty washing machines to the best bank accounts for savings, this is like a audio version of Watchdog. This podcast is full of other current affairs information, including political news. The Rest Is Money | Podcast on Spotify

6. Parenting Hell

Join Rob and Josh twice a week as they share their tales of parenting woe and chat to celebrity parents about how they're coping, or not coping. This anecdote-based podcast shares the highs and lows of parenthood, this could be seen as a good stress reliever hearing other people’s parenting dramas and knowing you are not alone in bringing up children.

7. The Therapy Crouch

Finally rounding off our seven recommendations is a couples’ therapy podcast from Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch, listen weekly as they explore the trials and tribulations of married life and complex relationships. The Therapy Crouch | Podcast on Spotify
