A day out in Sunderland earning BetterPoints

Betterpoints Sunderland is a free downloadable app where you can record your walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport trips to earn rewards. You can exchange your points for Sunderland Gift Cards, spend at local cafes, or donate to St Benedict's Hospice or Grace House. 

By travelling 1 mile or more via Metro you can collect 20 points per journey, up to four times a day.

Here are 4 journeys you could do on the Metro green line to earn your Betterpoints

  1.  Seaburn 

    Hop on the Metro from Sunderland station and head to the coast. Seaburn has plenty to offer including their well renowned Stack which has a whole host of food vendors. Keep adding points by talking a long walk down to the beach and enjoy the sea views. 

     

  2. National Glass Centre

    Head to St Peter's Metro station and take a 15 minute walk to The National Glass Centre. It's a great museum in Sunderland where you can learn all about glass making techniques and walk around the exhibitions. From Sunderland Metro station to St Peter's plus the 15 minute walk you could earn up to 35 Betterpoints! If you are already a keen Betterpoints earner, 2500 points means you can get a free hot drink at the centre.

     

  3. University

    Head to the University Metro station via the green line and walk through to the University of Sunderland Campus. On the campus there is a range of cafes that are offering rewards for Betterpoint users such as Studio, Gateway and Hope Street. 1200 points gives you a hot drink voucher! By heading to campus via Metro you are earning even more points just on your journey!

     

    4. Barnes Park 

    If you want to be a super points earner, why not hop on the Metro to University and take a leisurely walk down to Barnes Park, this is a perfect activity in the warmer weather and a great way to improve fitness.
