Where to get pancakes in Tyne and Wear

Pancake day is just around the corner and Tyne and Wear have some superb options, whether it’s dripping with Nutella, honey or Biscoff or topped with banana, sugar or chocolate, we are sure there is something that will make you crave pancakes this February.
All the pancake spots are accessible via Metro, the station will be listed below the options. Kids go free under 11 on Metro with an accompanying adult, so you can have an affordable family day-out.
- Quay ingredient
A small independently run coffee house based underneath the Tyne bridge just off Newcastle’s quayside. A small but mighty café celebrating regional favourites, local suppliers and award-winning coffee.
The pancake of choice must be their cinnamon sugar pancakes which are on the menu year-round. Make sure to keep up to date with their Instagram as they release specific pancake day menus too.

- The Dispensary
The Dispensary coffee shop in Newcastle has some amazing pancake choices. They are constantly bringing out different flavours and toppings so you can always try something new. The pancakes come with their iconic maple syringe, so you get a fun experience here as well as sweet pancakes. One of their latest creations is the Dubai chocolate pancakes featuring pistachio and chocolate. Their pancake specials change weekly so check their Instagram for this week’s limited-edition options.

- Monsieur Crepe
Monsieur Crepe café is in Heaton, offering coffee, brunch and traditional sweet and savoury French crepes, with a range of fillings and flavours for everyone. The café is a warm and friendly place which is dog friendly.
Their signature Crepes are served with cream and under £7. They have Vegan, Gluten and Dairy free batter available so everyone can come along. The chef’s choices of pancakes are the lemon meringue pie, strawberry shortcake and banoffee pie.
Although located in Heaton, you can sometimes find Monsieur Crepe at Tynemouth markets on weekends.

Open from 8am, Chloe Mae’s in Cullercoats serves amazing American pancakes, hot chocolates and cakes. They have pancake options ranging from Biscoff and banana, strawberries, Nutella and cream, and bacon and maple syrup.

Located on the coast in Sunderland, Love Lilys has some incredible buttermilk pancake choices. Two highlights are the Malteser stack and galaxy caramel brownie, you can also add on any sauces or toppings you wish! If you are celebrating a birthday, they also have the option for a Happy Birthday topper that can be added to any stack of pancakes.
