5 Sam Fender spots to reach by Metro

Posted: 17 Dec 2024

Sam Fender is a born and bred Geordie, and if you are a fan of his, here are 5 spots you can go to on Metro that all have connections to the local hero.

  1. St James' Park

It’s reminiscing time. In 2023, the North Shields singer-songwriter played at the home of his beloved Newcastle United with two homecoming shows. He was the first Geordie musician to headline the 55,000+ capacity stadium ever. So, it’s a great spot to look at where one of his most significant moments in his career took place. Fender is set to play more headline shows in 2025 at St James' Park.

  1. Low Lights Tavern

Seeing as Sam Fender’s local, the Low Lights Tavern is the place where it all began. Fender previously worked at the tavern and was discovered here when his bar manager at the time pushed him to get his guitar out in front of Owain Davies who was out celebrating another Brit win at the pub. Fender’s Brit Awards have been turned into beer pumps so that every time he goes for a drink he can have a victory pint!

Alternatively, take the Ferry from South Shields to North Shields.

  1. Gulshan

On singer Jessie Ware’s hit podcast Table Manners, Fender revealed his top curry spot- Gulshan. On the podcast, which first aired during the covid pandemic, Fender exclaimed that he was “just dying for a curry from his favourite curry place…. It’s absolutely bang on.”

If you choose to go, you also must order like Fender, he told Jessie his go-to order is the staff curry- it’s a huge pot of meat on the bone. According to him it is “absolutely lush.”
