R Place
Emily and Rachel started R Place as a coffee pop-up shop and recently they decided to learn the art of doughnut making. This has led to some outrageously creative doughnuts. Everything is created from scratch and the pair have widened their food selection into savoury options and more sweet treats. Some iconic mentions are the unicorn hot chocolate and crispy duck pancake doughnuts.

Pure Knead
Back in 2015, Pure Knead was created in Paula Wilson's own kitchen. The business started out at Tynemouth market and due to it's popularity Paula opened up a shop on Park View, Whitley Bay. They sell a stunning range of artisan breads, cakes, pastries and sandwiches, all made with quality ingredients. The shop also offers a bespoke cake commission service, producing a totally unique product.

Pablo EggsGoBao
Traditional English breakfast items meets Asian-style bao buns. Emma originally started the business as a pop-up in Heaton before opening their first shop in Whitley Bay. Due to it's success they now have stores open in Newcastle city centre, Sunderland and Edinburgh! The ethos of the business is specialising in one style of dish with hash-browns, melted cheese, egg and a sausage patty, all topped with sriracha and burger sauce (available vegetarian and vegan). It is clear their ethos has worked with 1500 bao buns sold every week throughout their stores.

Namaste Taste of India
Sangeeta Chopra runs an Indian deli takeaway that offers experiences such as cooking classes as well as delicious food. The business opened back in 2018 and was Sangeeta's chance to be her own boss. Talking about being a woman running her own business, the shop owner said "I think more and more women are taking a step forward and running their own businesses" she advised others to "Just go for it! Jump in the deep end"

Nicholson's Butcher
This family-run business, originally opened in 1914, is now onto it's fourth generation of ownership. Kathryn is taking on the family legacy and doing everyone proud. Nicholson's has stood in its current position in Whitley Bay since opening and sells local high quality meat, pastry and sausage rolls. When speaking on Kathryn's role as a female business owner she said that "It's a great challenge and I wouldn't want to be treated any differently to a man". She, like Sangeeta, said "Just go for it!"

Goreti
Goreti is a vegan Portuguese café that opened its doors in November 2021 following support from the Your Enterprise scheme, a small business development programme tailored exclusively for women.
Goreti owner Maria Barradas had her business idea initially due to her needing to find recipes suitable for her son who had a range of severe allergies. Maria's food philosophy is centred around using organic ingredients to nurture health. Living in both Portugal and originally from Cape Verde there is a personal touch to all of her recipes. Her menu is offered to takeaway customers or you can dine in at her café in The Forum Shopping Centre, Wallsend.
