Christmas in Newcastle

It’s the most magical time of the year, with the festive season shortly upon us. Metro couldn’t be an easier choice to get you to all those must-see things this Christmas, shopping, Santa visiting and of course festive nights out with friends and colleagues.
We take a look at all the festive fun happening in Newcastle city centre and compiled our must-see Christmas list below:
Moosenwirt
Back by popular demand this Alpine village is going to take over much of Old Eldon Square this year in an expanded effort. Their Alpine festivities across Newcastle’s Christmas Markets with a number of fantastic winter pop-up attractions, including their very own family festive “Christmas Village” in Old Eldon Square featuring ‘Santa Stories’ tipi, 'Elf Workshop', 'Rocking Reindeer’ and a beautiful vintage carousel.
Along with this exciting new family area, they have the spectacular Christmas social experience at the Monument, with your very own ‘North Pole’ featuring Luxury igloos overlooking Grey Street and beyond. And not to forget, the much loved Alpine Bar returns to Grey Street.
Grainger Street
Christmas markets are going to be coming to multiple areas of the city this year, including the iconic Grainger Street as in previous years. It will be great to see traders again this year with the traditional gifts, foods - and mulled wine of course. What is new for 2024 is the addition of some eco-friendly stalls this year, selling sustainable gifts for your friends and family.
Ice Rink- Life Centre
Life’s outdoor ice rink is an established part of Newcastle’s festive calendar. Open for the 9th of November till the 5 January 2025.
Situated in Times Square, just outside Life Science Centre, the rink, made of real ice, runs throughout the Christmas season, providing skaters of all ages and abilities with the ultimate festive experience.
