5 Pantomimes running in Tyne and Wear this festive season.

Panto season is approaching and there is plenty of amazing productions coming to Tyne and Wear. So grab the family and head out to the theatre! Don't forget.... Kids go free on Metro age 11 and under with a fare-paying adult!

Whenever you are travelling to any of the theatres listed below, you can travel for free two hours before and after the show on Metro provided you show your theatre ticket. Read more here.

  1. Mother Goose at The Customs House 

Running from 21 November 2024 to 5 January 2025, Mother Goose is full of fun and frolics. Stars such as Ray Spencer MBE and Glen Richard Townsend, take us through the journey of Dame Bella and her nephew. Through the ups and downs and the “He’s behind you”, we are sure this will be a magical performance. Tickets start from just £12.

  1. Jack and the Beanstalk at Sunderland Empire 

GIANT festivities are coming to Sunderland this panto season. From 13 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, there is fee-fi-fo-FUN brought into Sunderland Empire’s spectacular show. Star actor, Matthew Wolfenden who featured on ITV’s Emmerdale, is taking the stage as Jack. There is no doubt he will bring his boyish charm into this loveable role.

  1. The New Adventures of Peter Pan at the Playhouse Whitley Bay

Are you ready to be hooked? Get the family down to the Playhouse this panto season for an evening of fun-filled adventures on the stage. With Darren Day as the formidable Captain Hook and Panto legend Steve Walls as Smee, this is one you don’t want to miss.

  1. The Snowman in Concert at The Glasshouse

A timeless classic, The Snowman was an instant hit on its release in 1982. Now the Royal Northern Sinfonia will be playing the iconic twinkly soundtrack in perfect time with the film on the big screen. With conductor Ellie Slorach and presenter Eleanor Mooney this festive favourite will be brought to life. Within the relaxed performance on 22 December at 2pm, there will also be a British Sign Language interpreter. 

The show is running from 22 December to 24 December 2024 at 3 separate times throughout the day (11am, 2pm, 5pm). Purchase your tickets here.

  1. The Little Mermaid at Newcastle Theatre Royal 

Dive into the depths of the panto ocean and bring the whole family with you! Running from 26 November 2024 to 12 January 2025, this pantomime spectacular is an unmissable magical performance. Join pantomime icon Danny Adams and other Theatre Royal Favourites as you become part of their mermaid world. Get your tickets quick! 

The nearest Metro Station is Monument. Those travelling via Metro 2 hours before and after the performance at Theatre Royal are also entitled to free travel. See more info here.
